Cinema Screening!!

We've booked the Screen on the Green on Thursday 9th December @ 10.00am for the premier of your music videos. Please get permisison to attend from your teacher if you have a lesson on this morning. Admission to the cinema is with Media ID card and the screening will be finished before lunchtime.
The Screen on the Green is the cinema on Upper St that we used last year for the Thriller show.
Look forward to seeing you all there!

Deadline week!

Friday 26th is the deadline for the music video and all blogs relating to the production of it. Workshop will be open every lunchtime and we are also running an extra workshop on Wednesday until 4.30 for anyone that needs it. If you have a free lesson you can also edit, but if things get very busy we may have to limit use to hour long sessions.

Rough Cut this week!!

Your rough cut will take place this week - if you have your big lesson first it will be after break; if you have your big lesson second it will be at the start of your big lesson. Your teachers will look through your work and will give you feedback on what needs to be improved (if anything). You must remember to create a quick time of your rough cut to put on your blog and should reflect on the advice given by your teacher (see your blogging sheet).

The final deadline is a week Friday......

Deadlines are looming...

Rough-cut deadline is mid week of 15th November, and the final deadline for your music video is Friday 26th November. All blog tasks related to the planning and research for your music video should now be completed - your teachers are doing a check this week to make sure that you are up to date.

Don't forget that workshops run every lunchtime in room 323 and 325!

Filming over half term

If you have booked a camera to film over half term (all cameras are now booked I'm afraid, although we will run a small waiting list. If you are interested in putting your group on the waiting list can you please see Rebecca in room 315), then you must make sure that you get a yellow slip signed by one of your teachers before Friday. Those of you who have booked for the first half must collect your equipment at 4.30 this Friday and must return it by 10.30am on Wednesday 27th (please note that the technician's room will not be open before 10.00am). Those who have a booking for the second half of the holiday should collect their equipment at around 3.30 (and definitely before 4pm as the office will close at this time). This equipment must be returned by 9.00am on 1st November.

Vladimir Propp - Agh!!!

There seems to have been a universal 'cut and paste' job from Wikipedia for the research task that asked you to 'summarise Propp's narrative theory and apply it to a relevant music video'... If you are guilty of this can you please go back and change it. The task requires you to read around the theory, and then to show your understanding of it by applying it to a music video from the same genre as your chosen song.

It is essential that you link all your planning to your production work - a cut aand paste job (not even your own words....) doesn't do this.

Are you keeping up with your blogs?

Your teachers will be doing a big blog audit next week to make sure that you are all up to date with your research and planning. Now's the time to check your list and to make sure that you are where you should be at this point in the term.

Exemplar Blog from another centre

Have a look at this blog - it's a great example of a blog that received very high marks and is an example you can follow http://evening-angels.blogspot.com/

Welcome to the new blog

This is the brand new blog for the Advanced Production Portfolio for A2 Media students starting in September 2010.

Your production work at A2 requires development of different technical skills to those learned at AS, has a greater amount of independent work involved.

You will be working in a small group of 3 or 4 other students on production a promotional package for the release of a song from an album by a British Artist. You will create a new band/artist image and name for your 'star' (i.e. you won't be pretending to be the original artist) and will plan as a group the video for the song, and will produce individually a digipak (similar to a CD) and advertisement. Below is an overview of th emark distribution:

  • Blog 20/100 marks
  • Music video 40/100 marks
  • Digipak 10/100 marks
  • Advertisement 10/100 marks
  • Evaluation 20/100 marks
